QUESTIONS ANSWERED ABOUT NEPHROTIC SYNDROME

QUESTIONS ANSWERED ABOUT RELAPSES AND THE ONGOING BATTLE WITH NEPHROTIC SYNDROME: Aug. 2010

This is also the debut of The Skylar Ransom Show enjoy:

The purpose and creation of this site was to give us, as Tyler's parent's a way to make a difference by creating a platform for increased public awareness and a way to raise essential funds for our sons kidney syndrome, called Nephrotic Syndrome.

Specifically Tyler's kidneys filtering system malfunctions, as a result protein leaks into his urine, which causes fluid to accumulate in his body and his eyes, stomach and legs swell up. Prolonged leakage can cause kidney failure.

We are dedicated and focused in our goal to assist the Nephcure Foundation (www.nephcure.org) in finding the cause and the cure for Nephrotic Syndrome (which is what Tyler has), and FSGS (Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis).

Be advised that the title of this site is somewhat deceiving, as it is not just Tyler who needs to be healed; there are many who suffer from kidney ailments. Thus, we ask you to consider the title expansive, as it is our mission to bring relief to a world of brave souls who battle these challenges daily.

Thank you for visiting our site. We respectfully request that you tell your family, your friends and all those whom you come across to take a moment, to stop by and to check us out.

We also encourage you to check out the link "Tyler Challenge" to see the amazing people and organizations that have gotten involved and see how you may get involved or encourage others to.
Together we can make a difference!

NEPHROTIC SYNDROME RELAPSE 2011

Tyler suffers a relapse and lets everyone know that it does not mean, "stop living." I actually encouraged him to stay home from school, and his words convinced me otherwise. He said," It looks bad, but I feel okay and I can see out of both of my eyes." Stay positive and keep the faith.

WORK ETHIC PAYS OFF: GRACIE ORANGE/WHITE BELT

Tyler refuses to let Nephrotic Syndrome get in his way. Despite a tough 2010 with multiple relapses and a biopsy three days after this video, he continues to stay mentally strong and positive in Jiu Jitsu, school (he is in the gifted program) and in life.

EA SPORTS MMA WELCOMES TYLER

Tyler was recently a guest of Strikeforce fighter, Babalu at EA Sports MMA launch party for their new video game. Tyler was interviewed by CNN and several other outlets and met a slew of Fighters who showed him support. He was able to bring much needed awareness to Nephrotic Syndrome and encouraged the public to donate funds to the Nephcure Foundation. Special thanks to Richard Wilner for setting this up.

MEDICATIONS AND DOCTOR VISITS

I want each of you to know is Tyler is not alone in his battle there are millions of kids and adults facing similar challenges daily. There is not one day that goes by that doesn’t begin without everyone in the family on pins and needles to see how his urine registers in the morning. EVERYDAY, without fail, there is a nervous calm waiting to see if he is going to have a good day. If you can put it on your heart and finances permitting, to donate something every couple of months, or every year, whatever and whenever is possible and mention Tyler’s name when doing so, it would mean the world to many who are suffering. I encourage each of you to stay connected to the bravest, most disciplined and kind spirited person I have the privilege of parenting, Tyler Page Ransom.

The latest video shows how he deals with taking his medications and doctor visits. It also contains an interview segment with Dr. Elaine Kamil from Cedars.
