MMA Cares

The MMA and Jiu Jitsu communities have joined with Tyler and in essence all those who suffer from Nephrotic Syndrome.

Tyler is a Jiu Jitsu player who finds his peace and happiness rolling (sparring). Our goal is to have him visit all of the top MMA and Jiu Jitsu academy’s worldwide, and form relationships that lead to increased public awareness and funding through contributions that will lead to finding a cause and a cure for Nephrotic Syndrome and FSGS.

To sponsor Tyler coming to your location and doing a presentation, or to discuss how you may work with us please contact: Marlon@thebelieveitllc.com or call 323-387-0068.

INSIDE MMA on HDnet

Thanks to all of the producers, cameramen, support staff and the hosts of INSIDE MMA on HDnet: Bas Rutten and Kenny Rice for making Tyler’s 11th Birthday (Feb. 27, 2012) beyond memorable.

Tyler got the opportunity to talk about his kidney illness, nephrotic syndrome during his time on the set. *Also thanks to Ronda Rousey for stepping in at the end. Class acts all around.

MARK MUNOZ v. TYLER RANSOM 2012

UFC middleweight Mark Munoz took a break from his training camp for his matchup against Chael Sonnen to welcome Tyler, who shared his battle against nephrotic syndrome. *Tyler did not cause the injury to Mark’s elbow, which took him out of the fight. This footage shows Mark training with Ryron Gracie and Satoshi Ishii is in the background as bonus footage. Thanks to Mark and everyone at the Reign Training Center.

RONDA ROUSEY MEETS TYLER

Tyler made a trip to Dynamix Martial Arts in West LA, and shared his battle with Nephrotic Syndrome and rolled with Ronda Rousey the fast rising, undefeated Strikeforce (MMA) star. At first Tyler was apprehensive about rolling with her, but he quickly learned a few things; Ronda is tough enough to beat any man and she is a very down to earth and compassionate person. “She is the nicest person I have met, even though everyone has been nice, she is super nice!” Tyler.

WEC Veteran Aiding in 10-Year-Old’s Fight with Kidney Disorder
From http://sherdogblog.craveonline.com/blog

Sunday, November 27 4:30 am PT: When World Extreme Cagefighting veteran Savant Young enters the cage at Tachi Palace Fights 11 “Redemption” on Friday at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, Calif., he will have more than opponentRobert Washington on his mind. Tyler Ransom will occupy a place, too.

Ransom is a 10-year-old who suffers from Nephrotic Syndrome, a disorder in which the filtering systems in his kidneys malfunction. As a result, protein leaks into his urine, causing fluid to accumulate in his body and resulting in swelling around his eyes, stomach and legs. Prolonged leakage can lead to kidney failure.

Young (Pictured, File Photo) -- who owns notable victories over “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 3 winnerKendall GroveBellator Fighting Championships Season 3 bantamweight tournament finalist Ed West and former Shooto champion “Lion” Takeshi Inoue -- will make a donation on Ransom’s behalf to the NephCure Foundation. A non-profit organization, the NephCure Foundation is “committed exclusively to support research seeking the cause of the potentially debilitating kidney diseases, Nephrotic Syndrome and Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis, improve treatment and find a cure.”

Master Rafael Cordeiro Welcomes Tyler

Master Rafael Cordeiro of Kings MMA welcomed Tyler into his academy to help him spread the word about his battle with his kidney illness nephrotic syndrome. Rafael caught Tyler in a submission he had not been caught with before the ‘Foot tickle,’ but Tyler refused to tapout. Thank you to Lu, Rafael’s wife for setting this up and to Cory for making us feel at home and to Master Rafael who is one of the most genuine people we have met.

Enson Inoue meets Tyler

Tyler got the chance to meet one of his MMA heroes in San Diego recently, Enson Inoue. Tyler considers him a hero not because of his fights, but because of the help he provides to those suffering from the earthquake in Japan. Tyler’s couldn’t wait to roll with Enson at a planned seminar, but those plans were derailed when he suffered from severe stomach pains, his blood albumin level was severely low and he had to be hospitalized. When he was released the first thing on his mind was traveling to see Enson. What transpired was a heartfelt and inspiring conversation between this great fighter and a 10 year-old kid battling nephrotic syndrome.

‘Babalu’ Joins Healing Tyler Foundation

Renato “Babalu” Sobral: Fred Haas | Sherdog.com

Just days removed from a disappointing loss to Dan Henderson at Strikeforce “Henderson vs. Babalu II,” Renato “Babalu” Sobral announced plans on Tuesday to aid the Healing Tyler Foundation.

Founded by the father of 9-year-old Brazilian jiu-jitsu student Tyler Ransom, who suffers from Nephrotic Syndrome -- a condition that affects the kidneys -- the Healing Tyler Foundation raises money for the Nephcure Foundation, the only organization exclusively committed to supporting research seeking a cause of the kidney diseases Nephrotic Syndrome and Focal Segmental Glomeruloslerosls.

The debut fundraising effort hosted by “Babalu” will take place on Dec. 18 at Hooters in Burbank, Calif. The restaurant will donate 20 percent of all sales during the event to the foundation. Attendees are being asked to bring new and unwrapped toys for the children the charity reaches.

In a press release sent Tuesday, Sobral, who is working on Natural Born Fighter,” a video series that focuses on fitness, commented on Saturday’s loss.

“Fighting is not a choice for me; it is what I was born to do,” said Sobral. “Sometimes you lose the fight. But, like Vince Lombardi said, ‘If you can accept losing, then you can’t win.’ Losing is unacceptable to me. I will be back soon; back with the vengeance that defines me.”

MMA Cares Event 2010

Thanks to Richard, Terrance and Renato Babalu Sobral for hosting the MMA CARES event at Hooters in Burbank. Funds went to the Nephcure Foundation on behalf of www.healingtyler.com to find a cure for Nephrotic Syndrome and FSGS. Thanks for everyone's support, Twister and Compella for the music track, everyone who donated items, purchased raffle tickets and attended the event, including but not limited to Eddie Bravo, Diamond Dallas Page, Natalise Kalea, Miguel Starcevich, Shakoo and Bret 'Bamma' Roberts.

George Sotiropoulos Goes A Second Round With Tyler

UFC Lightweight contender, George Sotiropoulos took time out of his training schedule to have a conversation with Tyler and roll with him. The objective being to bring awareness to Nephrotic Syndrome, the Nephcure Foundation and Tyler’s daily battle and gain support. It should be noted:  this was filmed a week after Tyler suffered from a severe relapse, but he is a warrior in every sense of the word. The first roll was a statistical draw; this one was destined to have a finish with the Michael Angelo of 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu, Eddie Bravo, coaching for Tyler…Watch to find out! (Massive thanks to Eddie Bravo, George S. and everyone at 10th Planet for their continued support)

Renato ‘Babalu’ Sobral Shows Support To Tyler

Tyler recently made his way to Babalu’s BJJ in Cerritos, Ca. He rolled with Babalu and sat down for an extended talk about his battle with Nephrotic Syndrome and the Nephcure Foundation’s search for a cure. I was truly impressed and moved by how passionate, caring and empathetic Babalu was and how big his heart is. Babalu was genuinely interested in Tyler’s condition and took the time to go through all the pages on HealingTyler.com and he told Tyler his academy door would always be open to him and encouraged him to come back and train anytime.

Fabricio Werdum Shows Support To Tyler

Fabricio Werdum and fellow black belt Lucas Pires invited Tyler to come to Werdum’s Combat Team to talk about Nephrotic Syndrome and roll.  When we arrived there and he met Fabricio, it was the very first time I have ever seen Tyler scared to roll. Fabricio is a world-renowned fighter and best known for defeating Fedor and he is ever bit of 6’4, 240+lbs. (I was scared for Tyler..LOL). Tyler left there saying, “At first I was scared, because he is so big, I couldn’t get his body to move, but he had a way of making me feel like I was in control. Fabricio was one of the nicest people I’ve met, I felt like I was at home…Jiu Jitsu home.”

*For anyone who has a child with a chronic illness, it is very important that you don't neglect your other children if you have them. **Take note that Skylar makes a cameo in this video doing her favorite move on Fabricio.

Tapout Sends Tyler A Package In support Of His Battle With Nephrotic Syndrome

Tapout sent Tyler a package at the behest of Dan Hardy and we are sincerely thankful for their generosity.

Dan ‘The Outlaw’ Hardy Lends A Hand To Tyler.

Dan Hardy is one of the top welterweights in the UFC. He is also a fighter whose name brings a passionate reaction, be it for or against him. I hate to spoil it for those who view The Outlaw unfavorably, but he is by far one of the kindest, most empathetic and genuine human beings Tyler (and I) have met. He rolls with Tyler and sends out a message for all to go to www.healingtyler.com and donate what you can to help those who are battling Nephrotic Syndrome.

*Tyler was not having a good day, but he is a trooper.

Regards,

Marlon

Gracie's Bring Awareness To Nephrotic Syndrome

Tyler recently went to his home academy and spoke to his instructor Ryron Gracie about Nephrotic Syndrome and then rolled with Ryron and his brother Rener. They encouraged all Gracie Jiu Jitsu players to get involved with Tyler’s mission of spreading the word and making a difference.

Tyler Challenge Takers

Eddie Bravo and his 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu franchise, has the distinction, of being the very first to get involved. Tyler also got the opportunity to roll with Eddie and with UFC competitor George Sotiropoulos.
